On behalf of Council and the residents of Collingwood, I want to thank you for generously giving your time, expertise and experience to our community to assist Town staff in addressing the water capacity issues at the Raymond A. Barker Water Treatment Plant (WTP).
Since becoming aware of the capacity issues this spring and then implementing an Interim Control By-Law, this issue has been the top priority of Council. Your input and contribution on proactive measures to mitigate the summer/winter capacity differential and to increase the WTP capacity pending the completion of the expansion have been of great benefit to Council and to staff. As a result of your input, Council directed staff to include the option of UV Disinfection retrofit to the existing WTP as part of the expansion design RFP process and we are optimistic this will be done.
Thank you for your personal and professional commitment to our community, it is impactful and very much appreciated by myself and my Council colleagues.

Muskoka Watershed Council
The Muskoka Watershed Council’s mission is to champion watershed health in those watersheds that flow into and through the District Municipality of Muskoka. There is no conservation authority in Muskoka, instead the Council is a volunteer-based organization supported by the District of Muskoka, local consulting firms, and local Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry and Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change offices.
The Muskoka Watershed Council is currently undertaking a project to understand the potential impact of climate change in Muskoka to the year 2050. In working with our municipal partners, decision support tools such as Greenland’s new CANWET-5 model could be useful in informing our watershed management planning decisions in relation to policy development, stewardship priorities and education and communication programs.

I would like to recognize the active involvement of the GREENLAND Ground of Companies in the Town of Collingwood's economic development efforts and dedication to helping advance the Town's vision of being a specialized technology hub. Their extensive knowledge of the water technology and land development industries, coupled with their desire to help propel Collingwood forward as a regional economic leader, are very much appreciated.
The Town is proud to have GREENLAND in the community as they have also been key supporters in facilitating introductions with renowned organizations, such as the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, WaterTAP, Communitech, Canadian Water Resources Association and Canadian Water Network. These organizations and others will help Collingwood secure new businesses with a recreational and healthy lifestyle focus. GREENLAND is also a passionate supporter of youth networking and knowledge transfer initiatives, providing financial assistance for Collingwood Youth Centre initiatives at www.collingwoodyouthcentre.ca
